How to get to the Altai Republic?
You may travel from Moscow to Barnaul by airplane. The flights are performed by:

If you are going to visit the Altai Republic in summer period (the same concerning any other forest region of Russia), we insistently advise to do preliminary inoculation against tick encephalitis (preferably in November-March, not less than 44 days before entry date). Inoculation doesn't guarantee complete protection from encephalitis infection, but considerably eases the course of disease. When you are in the open air, examine yourself from time to time searching for ticks. You may use some special remedies frightening ticks off, such as "Deta" or anti-tick stick. Anyway, if you were not lucky to be stung by a tick, it is necessary to make an injection of anti-tick immunoglobulinus during 3 days. This injection costs about 350 roubles for children (about $12 USA) and 1000 roubles and more for grown-ups (from $35 USA). As usual the disease becomes apparent in 5-30 days after tick's sticking, but more often in 10-14 days. In case of the temperature rise or appearance of any other signs of disease it's obligatory to visit a doctor immediately.
It's possible to get health insurance for the case of tick's sting. It costs 50 roubles (about $2 USA). If you've got such insurance, injection is free at the following places:

If you have come to the Altai Republic from a foreign country, you should keep to some formalities. In order to enter the Republic you should have Russian visa and a document proving your identity. If you intend to stay in a hotel, tourist base, recreational center - it is necessary to register in Passport-Visa Service of the local Department of Home Affairs independently from the period of stay. If you've stayed at your friends' place or just at somebody's private house - registration is necessary if the stay term exceeds 3 days.
Primarily o要e may be registered for the period less, than 45 days, later it is possible to prolong registration.
Registration costs 30 roubles (about $1 USA) - it's a state duty.
Organizations and private persons are to present a program of stay in two copies to Passport-Visa Service of the Altai Republic Ministry of Home Affairs three days before the entry of invited foreign citizens.

Citizens of the Republic of Mongolia living at the territory of Bayan-Ulgiya Aimak have the right of entry to the Altai Republic without visa (to 100 km of bordering zone of Kosh-Agachsky Region).
If you're a foreigner and have come by your own car, you have to register your vehicle at the customs control bodies (if the term of your visit doesn't exceed 6 months) or at the State Inspection of Street Traffic Security where you have to change number-plate (if you've come for a period longer, than 6 months).
